My first call for a listing was a $350,000 home. The seller called and wanted me to schedule an appointment with him that afternoon. I tried to get him to change so I had more time to prepare, but he persisted so I went. Since it was my first time, I was nervous, but I talked through my presentation, answered his questions and left. Of course when I left, I felt like I had blown it - thought about what I should have said, etc. In any case, I didn't feel like I would hear from him again. Two weeks later he called me and told me that he had interviewed two more agents but he wanted me to sell his home. I asked him why and he told me because he felt I was more honest and sincere. That listing sold in 3 days!
I always go back to that first appointment because that's what I want to be to anyone who entrusts me with this important event - honest, sincere and working hard to get you what you want.
